Social Software in Education and Life
Professional Development Day - SIAST Woodland Campus
March 2008
For you to use some of the tools covered in these sessions you will need a Google account. If you don't already have one, this video tutorial will show you how to get started.
This session will explore ways of using social software tools such as RSS, blogs, podcasts, YouTube and online communities (such as Facebook and Ning) to enhance your own learning and for use in your teaching. It will cover information on finding relevant blogs, podcasts and videos and using these tools to keep track of things that interest you related to education and other aspects of your life.
This session will act as an introduction to the use of blogs, wikis and and other social networking tools to share knowledge and ideas with others in your professional and personal communities. The emphasis will be on the use of these tools by those in attendance, but we will also explore some ideas for using these tools with students.
